98 Windstar Remote

I got a 98 Windstar with the factory remote lock/unlock. I either want to reprogram it or disable it.

I have a aftermarket alarm on it and want to use the factory remote on my other car.

I have the Windstar remote programed to my 98 Explorer but when I use it, it now locks/unlocks both cars.

When was it built? There's a different programming procedure depending on whether it was built before or after 9/97.

is there a way to see if my 1998 WS anti-theft system is working that doesn't involve hiring a burglar?

Start with fully charged battery and anti-theft system off. Turn IGN switch from off to run (8) times within 10 seconds. End the cycle in the RUN position. All doors shoudl lock and then unlock to confirm that you've entered programming mode.

Press any button on the transmitter. All doors should lock and unlock to verify that the transmitter is working properly. When done, turn IGN off. All doors should then lock to confirm

I tried that and it didnt work, maybe my other alarm is interfering?

I cant get it to forget what the old remote was.

I get it into programming mode and then shut it off and it still recognizes the remote. I want my Windstar not to recognize the remote anymore.
