Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
Hello, I own a 2001 windstar and so far it's been great. However I have had to replace the brake switch 3 times before and it just went again today. The van only has 158,000 Km (not miles) and I doubt that this is normal or that i've been getting defective switches. Could this be a factory defect? I am ready to design my own switch since they are getting pricey here in Canada. Has anyone had this problem?
is your master cylinder leaking? That's usually why the switch shorts out.

No it's not leaking. This switch is the "new" plastic version that incorporates points inside. and one of the plates is so thin that just snaps over a short period of time. I have recently changed the switch for the 4th time but this time I put one from a 98 which is the simpler type. We'll see how much this one lasts.
funny my 1998 never had any of these odd issues...I'm glad i'm lucky, good luck man!
