Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 2003 Winstar rusting

I have a 2003 Windstar with 65,000 miles and its rusting through on the lower left quarter panel. I understand Ford says it has to be a hole but how can they tell if the paint is just bubbled? I am disappointed that it has started so early and I know its going to be a big problem in a few years.
Does anybody else have this problem?

not good, it will be covered, but you might have to complain. Do you live by a beach? Lot's a harsh climates? Salt from icy roads or oceans?

My van (1998) is fine, except for where the paint cam off due to fender benders. I think my paint is starting to pit a little. But then again, my van is 10 years old, not 4-5 years old.

Take a scratch awl and keep exposing the rust so you have a hole. Maybe pour some salt water on it to make it rust faster. Once you get the hole make sure you clean all traces of the salt water and then have Ford fix it.

ford wont do didly squat.. i know i have the exact same problem in the exact same spot and on the bottoms of the doors are a prob but i sprayed them with lube and it seems to have haulted the prob.. what has happened is its rusting from behind.. i havent had time to try to see inbehind .. i might just end up cutting that piece out and fixing it myself.. some body shops might be able to fix it for like 200 or less

Try this for rust. I use it all the time and it works great.

interesting stuff mark, but it paints black... so you'd have to go from behind.
