Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 1998 Windstar GL Instrument Cluster Bulbs

Does anyone have the Quantities of each bulb that are needed in order to replace all of the bulbs in the cluster unit once it is removed? I'd really hate to have to remove it and then put it back together. My guage set is the analog one with both Tach and Speedo. All of the parts sites are showing #194 and #37 bulb for the cluster, but not the quantities.

Thanks for the help!!!!

I'm not sure... but I do have a quick recommendation to make....

Buy your bulbs in bulk, not from the blister packs your parts store keeps out front, but from the boxes of 10 they keep in the back. You can usually get the bulbs (194s/168s) for $0.75 a piece, I'd recommend getting a box of 10. Either return what you don't need or keep them as spares, 194s are also most license plate light bulbs. Keeping a couple on hand can be just the thing to keep you from getting a ticket.

Not sure off the top of my head...194's sound right, but I also think the common bulb looks like a 194, with a backing on it, they twist clockwise into the panel and hold in.

Check your owners manual, usually they give a VERY clear list of the part numbers you need for the bulbs.

does anyone know how to get behind the instrument cluster, I need at least 1 bulb for speedo, and 1 bulb check engine light.

Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto you can look up part numbers and also buy online. I ussually get parts and pricing info, then go to autozone.\

UPDATE:

The Instrument cluster bulbs are 194 and 37

I think you need to remove a bunch of stuff including the knee bolster, the ignition/shift cowelling, the ignition switch and the shift indicator link as well as the trim around the cluster/dash....a bit involved but easy if you follow teh step by step in the Haynes manual that you can get in Auto Zone or R&S Strauss

Yeah...I think the 194's snap into the backing and that makes the connection to the PC board on teh cluster when you twist/turn it in!
