Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
While driving home my always dependable 98 windstar she stalled at around 45mph. I drifted to the side of the road, put her in part, and tried to start it. She would turn over but not fire. I let her sit for about 5 mintues and it fired back up. I revved it a few times, took off, got about 2 miles down the road and it did it again. I finally made it home after two more of these events. Today I started her up, she idled for about 45 seconds and slowly idled down and stalled again. I have done over and over with the same results. I cleaned my battery leads, which were crusted over but tht did not help. Is my 98 just plain tired like me or is she in need of some replacement parts?
if you have a OBD II diagnostic tool, see if that leads us anywhere.
but like mark said, it sounds fuel related. A new fuel filter ($7-$10) would probably be a good idea to change first. Also Clean throttle body (throttle body cleaner, $3 aerosol), and check/replace air filter. I would definitely check spark plugs plugs and wires. If that stuff doesn't help, I might have someone check/clean the fuel system (if it revs good it might be ok).

Thank you all for your detailed responses. I appreciate the fact that no one threw a jab at the poor writing in my initial post. Goes to show you how dependent I am on spell and grammer check these days.
It is interesting you are talking fuel and plug/cable related causes. I was thinking it was a sensor issue. I have a lot to learn.
Will post the resolution when I get it figured out. The person with the correct diagnoses recieves one large doughnut and a cup of coffee on me.
