Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Did you check all the fuses?

Look for leaking brake fluid around the master cylinder or ABS unit. A leak in one of these areas shorts out something that makes the cruise not work if I remember correctly.

mark is correct, at the bottom of the master cylindar, there is a brake safety switch, if the master cylinder is leaking it will flood and short, disabling cruise control and your ABS system.

Replace the switch, start with that, usually that is the only thing that shorts. The switch costs around ($20-30)

Is the switch a dealer only item? I tried to get one today at AutoZone and they couldn't seem to find anything in their system.

Thanks,

It may be an idiot looking up parts that doesnt know how to use the Computer. Try NAPA then a Ford Dealer cause I can find it on AutoZone.com - Get in the Zone! it is called a Hydraulic Brake Pressure Switch located on the bottom of the Master Cylinder.

AutoZone.com | Shopping | Accessories | Product Detail - Painless Performance Hydraulic Brake Light Switch

ACUEVAS, could you please post back an update on your issue? CC is out on my 1996 also; and its ABS light is also on. Thanks.
