Hi. I'm new to this forum and am looking to see if this is a problem...
I replaced the timing belt on my 1998 ZX2 2.0 Zetec and when I pulled off the valve cover I noticed that oil had pooled around the spark plugs for cylinders 1 + 2 - it was filled almost up to the ceramic insulator on the plugs. I probably would not have noticed this if I were just changing the plugs. But if I were to pull out the plug, a significant amount of oil would then flow into the cylinder. The car has about 120000 miles on it. Is this a case of the oil not draining properly? Should I worry about it? Sorry for the long post. I greatly appreciate any input. Thanks.
It is a case of a bad valve cover gasket. Get a rag to sop up some of that oil in the plug wells, install a new valve cover gasket and you should be Golden.
There should never be oil in the spark plug wells.
