Ford ZX2 Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.

Default trunk button

hi to all this is my first post that maybe some of you can help me with. I have just bought a 2002 zx2 in nice condition. I have noticed however that the electronic trunk opener does not work. When I push the yellow button on the dash nothing happens. I can however hear what I think is the relay or solenoid clicking which sounds like it is located on the passenger side kick panel just in front of the door. Anyone out there have any knowledge on this problem? Thanks in advance!

If you can hear the lock trying to release when you hit the button then your actual trunk lock might just be sticking. I had the same problem. A little white lithium grease works great on lock mechanisms.

Smile trunk release

if lubricating the latching mechanism does not remedy this problem, you may have to adjust the striker. It has to bolts. I have found that these sometimes misalign. Straightening the striker and lifting it a small amount has taken car of this problem on two of my ZX2's.
