Ford ZX2 Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.

Default Differences in Zx2 Engines from 99-03

Hey i'm trying to swap in a new block from my car and its a 2003 ford Zx2 with the ZETEC-R in it and i've found a 99 S/R Donor Car and its got a killer engine in it and it looks like a ZETEC-R in it (Black Valve Cover with VCT Marking and no 16v Tag) it looks like it should just bolt up and fire away but is there any thing i should know about this? Any complications cause whatever change in those few years some engineer pulled off for whatever reason could make this swap a whole lot harder but if there are no diff's no worries than and i'm kool i just need some other input from ya'll and mine is the 03 Zx2 the last of the breed and my donor car is a 99 Zx2 S/R THANKS!

Smile swapping

the swap of these two motors is straightforward. The only other things you should probably also take out of the donor car are: the trans (keep it in one piece with the motor and it might still have the centerforce clutch in it), the shifter (b&m short throw), the shift boot (leather), the shift knob (carbon fiber), the gauge cluster (silver surround with red needles, 150 mph), the intake (roush), struts and springs (eibach, tokico), the muffler (borla), and most importantly THE COMPUTER!! The rims and the rear brakes would also be a huge bonus if you can score those. These parts are what made up the s/r package.

the car will work with the original computer, but the s/r computer will add about 10% more horsepower. The codes for the 99 were either NGP0 or JHJ0. This is better than buying a chip to add to it later.

good luck, it is just a shame to know that another s/r had to die
