Ford ZX2 Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.

Default timing belt replacement

has anyone replaced timing belt on 2.0 dohc '98 zx2?? I understand there is a "timing peg" that needs to be accessed on the front of the block to ensure TDC of crank position. can it be done without using the peg? s/a finding tdc on #1 cyl.?? this thing is apparnetly behind the catalytic converter and i'm not real thrilled about having to get that fing thing outta there. HELP

yea you can do it without the timing plug but yo will nee a flat bar or a file to fit into the back of the cams after you remove the valve cover to hold the cams stationary.

I dont own one just fix them,it is "supposed" to be a free wheeling motor. You must have a heck of a cam or pistons.

This is a non-interference engine. You do not need any valve work if you bust a belt. There are deep reliefs cut into the pistons for valve clearance. This isn't a crappy american designed engine.
