Ford ZX2 Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.

Unhappy Serpentine Belt

Hey, I was leaving a friends house tonight and heard a "pop" and i lost my power steering and my battery light came on. When i backed up I noticed there was some liquid on the ground where i backed up from. We checked it out a the serpentine snapped and came off all the pulleys. I can turn all the little "wheels" by hand so I don't think anything is seized but my anti-freeze Overflow bottle filled up and overflowed which was the liquid I saw on the ground. What do I have to do to put a new serpentine belt on. Does anyone have a diagram or instructions on how to do it on a 1998 Escort ZX2 with a 2.0L Doch engine? Thanks

Search the 'Knowledge Base' on TeamZX2.com - Powered by vBulletin for the how-to. Even has a diagram. It is possible the tensioner failed so make sure it still has some spring pressure when you try to move it with a wrench. Check the pullies for side-to-side and in/out play. They don't have to seize up to throw a belt.
