Ford ZX2Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.
I have a 2003 ZX2, got off work today and the battery was totally dead, not even enough juice for the radio.
Got a jump start and drove home and shut engine off but radiator fan just kept running (live close to home so engine never reached normal operating temperature, and it was cold/damp outside, radiator hoses weren't even hot). Engine coolant levels were good (not as much fluid as there should have been in the overflow reservoir, but it wasn't empty, either)!
I suspect the radiator fan ran the battery all the way down, currently have battery disconnected until I get this solved...any pointers? Temp sensors, CCRM, stuck relays??
I'd go with a stuck relay as the first bet also.
Your owner's manual might tell you where it is.
I think some cars have them behind the passenger headlight.

The relay for the high and low cooling fan speed control is inside the CCRM. You can replace the CCRM or take the CCRM apart and replace the two relays on the board.

Thanks ZX2Fast (and everybody else that replied), but where exactly is the CCRM located, under the hood or under the dash?
Thinking about getting one from a salvage yard (if I can find one), rather than buying a new one and (if it works) repair the original one when I get a chance...thoughts?
The CCRM is under the air filter box. A salvage one is questionable because it could have been in the rain for all you know. If you are comfortable soldering, then you can repair the CCRM in less then an hour, including removal and installation. Just make sure you have a ride to Radio Shack to get the relay.

$200? Any place charging that much should be avoided. You can get these things much cheaper on Ebay or Team ZX2. I just paid $300 for a transmission, so paying $200 for a relay box is out of the question.

I got the CCRM removed and the casing off, I notice that the relays are labeled K1, K2, K3 and K4...which two are the ones for the cooling fan motor (low and high speed)?
Also, the 275-005 relays from Radio Shack have 5 soldering pins, while the relays on the CCRM appear to only have 4 soldering points...are they the correct ones?

Most relays have 5 pins. Two to power the relay, one for power input for the component the relay will power, and two outputs. One of the outputs is normally closed (sends power through without the relay activated) and the other is normally closed (sends power through only when the relay is active). Since the fan will only get power when the PCM turns the relay on, it won't used the normally closed pin. So only 4 of the pins will handle current anyway. I don't know which of the relays are for the fan. My diagram doesn't label them with a 'K'. Since they are so cheap, you can't go wrong replacing them all.
