Notices

Ford ZX2 Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.

Does it idle rough at speed, or at a stop?
It could be an engine mount, transmission mount, or both. A tune up might help some, but if the vibration is bad when idling in neutral/park, or drive, it would be an engine mount.

Default Thanks

Thanks. I had a trans mount replaced, didn't seem to help. It's worse when I turn on the heater or air, at times it shakes the steering wheel pretty bad. When I put it in nuetral it's fine, as soon as I start moving it's fine. I'll have the motor mounts checked. What is the vct seliniod? Thanks again.

There is a TSB that covers this very thing. I have a 2001 and am experiencing the identical symptoms. The TSB can be found for free online here
http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricant...tsb/031515.pdf

for the 2001 in consists of slotting some holes and going thru a specific procedure to "neutralize" the engine in its mounts. The flate-rate labor for this TSB is around 3.5 hours. Different years have different procedures. I'll wait til warm weather and probably do it myself. We've lived with it this long, we can wait til spring.
