Ford ZX2Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.
I have a terrible case of wheel hop and it's driving me crazy. What is the most effective solution to this that's gauranteed to work? Is it my tires, cuz they're worn...Can anyone help me with this?
The Phantom Grip I installed into my turbo ZX2 did a lot to reduce wheel hop. A set of lower transmission mount ES bushing inserts help a lot as well. The problem is that the ZX2 has a 2 spider gear open differential. The gears bash against each other and this produces the wheel hop. No wonder the spider gears are the highest failure rate part in the car. The Phantom Grip is about $300 and it pushes the gears into the side of the drive gears (where the axles go in) and has a more positive (read, leave two solid black lines when burning out) locking action. It also greatly reduced my torque steer which was a real issue with 200 ft-lbs of wheel torque.

These cars do not have a harmonic balancer. The engine is internally balanced.
