Ford ZX2 Ford ZX2 offers sporty styling, responsive handling, brisk acceleration, and everyday comfort and practicality for one or two people. Its back seat and trunk are fully usable. Yet the ZX2 is easy on fuel, and costs less than some base-level sedans. Gone is the smooth, grille-less look, replaced by a dark horizontal slash between the headlights.

Exclamation Need some help with my 2000 zx2

My 2000 zx2 has been having some rough idling for around 6 months now, 3 days ago my windshield wipers went totally out, my power steering went out yesterday morning, and now today while driving to work my headlights started to dim out, then my guages dimmed and my speedometer stopped working, and then my headlights went totally out and after about 30 seconds my car started dying. Luckily I was a block from work so i just coasted there. My car would not restart after getting to work. This morning i went out to my car and started it right up and got almost home before the same problems occured. I got my battery recharger out of my trunk and it started right up and i was pulling into my driveway when it died again. I was wondering if it could be possible that my alternator has went out, or is going out and if not.... what could be the problem? Or do I just have very bad luck with all of these problems at once?

You should go to an Autozone or other parts store and have them test your alternator(free of charge) this is prolly your issue.

word has it that the engin has a realy bad ground i got word of that from a few ZX2 owners that i know when i bought my ZX2 S/R and the way to fix it is to go to your nearest auto sound shop [visions, sound surround, ect] and pick up a few feet of 4 or 8 guage power or ground wire for automotive sound systems and some round end conectors. cut the cable to a max of 3 feet you want to have the shortest grounds as posable and conect the cables to the head of the engine to the body of the car making sure that you have enuf play so that the torque of the engine will not pull or rip the ground wire out also you can hook one up to the block some people have also hooked one to the throttle body but theres not much point unless your running nos

I agree with this. I encountered similar issues on my 200 ZX2 and it turned out to be the result of a bad Alternator. Be careful though, when my alternator went it killed one of the cells in my battery and I had to replace it too.
