Identifying Battery Cables, '98 ZX2

I forgot to note which cable was positive and which one was negative when I had to replace my batter this evening. The red plastic + broke off a long time ago. Is the black with yellow stripe negative or positive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

there should be a + and - on the battery itself.

On my daughter's '02 the black/yellow cable is for the negative terminal. I would think that it's the same for your '98.

If you want to double check get out your multimeter and check the resistance between a lead and the body or motor of the car, if its zero ohms then your checking the ground, if its infinity your checking the positive. Or look to see where the lead runs too.

Personally im with r2t2, black/yellow is the ground
