Forum Feedback & SuggestionsHow are we doing? Good or bad, let us know what you think. Do you have a suggestion? Do you want to send us hate mail? Do you love us? Post all those comments here. We will check all feedback and appreciate all comments/suggestions.
Perhaps the new member area forum should be renamed to something like... "Just saying Hi!" or something like that.
IT must be confusing to many people because it appears that many people think that it is where new members are supposed to make their first post asking for help.
I personally find it annoying to read through a problem, start thinking about it, only to realize that they are in the new member section, and if I give an answer it might get locked. What a waste of time.

I'm not a professional mechanic, take my suggestions with a grain of salt, or a cup of coffee
At the bottom of each post there is a little icon

Yeah I do not understand why they do that to this day.
"New Member Area Finally decided to create that account and become part of this great Ford enthusiast forum. Stop in and tell us a little bit about yourself. This is a good place for you to get that first post out of the way and welcomed into this great community."
As I see it there is no where in the description to post and ask for help. I get this also in this area too.
"Forum Feedback & Suggestions How are we doing? Good or bad, let us know what you think. Do you have a suggestion? Do you want to send us hate mail? Do you love us? Post all those comments here. We will check all feedback and appreciate all comments/suggestions."
And also in this area.
"Helpful Tech Tools & DIY Garage Tips Do you have any helpful tech tools you made yourself or some home brewed DIY garage tips to help you work on your vehicle at home? If you do, place them here. Try to include pictures so everyone can get a good idea of what you are talking about"
Fact is people will always ask their own questions in areas where they dont belong. I really hate when they hijack another persons post with a totally unrelated question.
Forest Gump once said "Stupid is as stupid does".

I have seen those errors too, but by a far margin they occur more often in the "New Member Area"
As a new member, many assume that they are supposed to make their first post in that section. One reserved just for new members.
The fine print This is a good place for you to get that first post out of the way may be further misleading. All they are thinking about is... I got a problem with my ___ and I want to ask a question.... how do I fix it?
Perhaps renaming it to
"Introductions" Stop in and say Hi! Introduce yourself and your car/truck, NOT your problem If you have a problem, post your question in the appropriate forum below.

A couple other forums I hang around in have instructions for NOT posting auto related problems/questions in the "New Member Area". If they do it's immediately moved to the proper forum with a nice warning. That puts the load on the Moderators..... we all like that
Can you change the forum name from this "New Member Area" to this... "New Member Introductions"?
"New Member Introductions... Finally decided to create that account and become part of this great Ford enthusiast forum. Stop in and tell us a little bit about yourself. This is a good place for you to get welcomed into this great community."

Mark,
Thanks for making the effort.
I would delete this sentence for the sake of brevity, and get right to what we want them to use the forum for.
"Finally decided to create that account and become part of this great Ford enthusiast forum."
I think it can be said that many do not read a lot before they post.
That's just me being the unmoderator.

Has RobDog responded yet?
I see that there haven't been any changes.
