Default head/dashboard light switch knob for 91' Ford Tempo

My question is how do you disconnect the knob assembly from dashboard without taking off whole dashboard?

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Remove the left air vent control cable by removing the 2 retaining screws.

Remove the fuse panel bracket retaining screws. Move the fuse panel assembly aside to gain access to the headlight switch.

Pull headlight to the ON position, and depress the headlight knob and shaft retainer button on the headlight switch and remove the knob and shaft assembly.

Remove the headlight switch retaining bezel. Disengage the electrical connector from the switch, and remove the switch from the instrument panel.

To install:

Connect the wire harness to the headlight switch.

Install the headlight switch into the instrument panel. Secure switch with retaining bezel.

Install the headlight knob and shaft to the switch and, gentle push shaft until it locks into place

Move fuse panel into place and install fuse panel bracket and retaining screws.

Install left air vent.

Connect the negative battery cable.

Road test the vehicle to make sure the instruments and warning lamps function correctly.
