Unhappy 2000 Taurus - no heat

Seems to be a trend these no heat problems with the Taurus... and so it happened to mine too

I flushed the coolant and changed the thermostat, both lines are hot going through the firewall and the fan blows but still no heat. I hear absolutely nothing when changing the hot cold dial, no motor no nothing. I am assuming it is this heat blend door thing. I got a rough idea of what it takes to check this but any additional pointers on where it is and how to change it would help.

Also, I would like to check the AC fuse but dont know which it is or if it is under the dash fuse or under the hood fuse. seems to be 2 boxes of fuses.

Also, is flushing the heater core as easy as disconnecting the two hoses i see behind the engine going through the wall and putting the garden hose to them? the coolant was full of rust and i had changed it only 4 months ago. do those 'Coolant system cleaners' and 'rust preventors' actually work? they are expensive.

Thanks for any help! Winter is rapidly approaching and I gotta get this fixed or freeze my ass off!
