Hey nice write up My hubby's 91 F150 is giving him fits...now we gotta figure out what the problem is with the heating, or should I say lack of lol.

Nice post.
TIP: For late model cars and trucks with plastic fill bottle:

If you remove the de-gas bottle, the large 1" hose at the bottom of the bottle just happens to snuggly fit into a garden hose........
So leave the lower Rad hose connected.
You will need to remove upper rad hose at rad to "let er all out".
Turn on water.
Wear rain gear.

too easy! i have a question though....how do ya burp 1 if it does get a air pocket?

although this didnt fix my problem of overheating it was an easy process...took all of 30 mins.

You can burp your engine easy by jacking up the front of the car as high as it will go and let it run till it is hot enough to open the thermostat, this will force the air to the highest part of the cooling system.

This looks like a good idea, but I always thought one should REVERSE flush the system also. I had to reverse flush my old Falcon's heater about once a year when it quit getting hot. Never leaked, just clogged up. Forward flushing just pushed the rust stuck in the corners farther in the same direction. Of course you are fighting the water pump so it worn't work with the engine running!
