2009 Ford Flex Heater Issues We recently purchased a new Ford Flex...which we LOVE! However, we've been having some strange issues with the heater. We live in the tundra, so on days like today when it's -25, we get a good taste of the problem and can narrow things down. Don't appear to have the issue when the temp is above 10 F or so...
* On starting the vehicle, heater temperature warms normally.
* After running for awhile (10-15 min going down the highway), on the defrost/foot setting, the defrost blows warm air and the feet are noticeably cooler. With the dial set at 90 degrees, we should be cooking out of it, no such luck.
* When we're off the interstate and are SLOWING for the city, the heat becomes cooler
* When we stop at a light, it all goes COLD. Today we played with different RPMs. Anything below about 1200 RPMs we had cold air. Just revving the engine to 1500 we had heat again.
* Fan speeds/blower are consistent, no slowing, stopping, etc.
Unfortunately, the last time I was scheduled, the temp warmed up and when the tech took the vehicle, he couldn't emulate the issue. Well, it's freezing cold again so we're back to the drawing board. Things checked at the dealership:
1. Coolant levels - coolant was filled.
2. Hoses checked
3. Thermostat replaced
Can someone give us some additional ideas?? It's going back to the dealership again and I know they're stumped. |
