When the back quarter panel is off and you can see the rear expansion valve, you can clearly see (hear) that the whistling is coming from it. I have done a lot of Internet research and when the problem first started, all the info I received boiled down to replacing the rear expansion valve. Once my husband did that, it was fixed for only 1 day. Then the whistle started again. When I try to search for other alternatives, everything leads back to the same fix. It seems this whistle problem is a standard problem for this year exped.
My husband is pretty car savvy and did the txv himself, is the drier something he could fix?

The drier is easy to access. It is in the right front area near radiator. If he can do the TXV, he can do the drier.

Any history of A/C stop leak with this vehicle?

We have owned it for over 2 years and we've never put stop leak in it or had any issues with the air. We purchased it from a dealer auction, it was a lease turn in vehicle.

Is this the receiver drier? View Picture at Discount Compressor &code=SU

Can the drier be tested to see if it's restricted/broke? Could using an ac flush solvent help to solve the restriction? If the drier is broke, is that the reason why we have 3 warm/1 cold tubes coming out of the txv rather than the correct 1 warm/3 cold?
Sorry for all the questions. I know nothing about cars, but I do the research and hubby does the dirty work.

No flush on the drier. If it is bad-replace it. Flush is used for lines and heat exchangers. No flush in compressors, driers, or TXV's. Any oil that is removed by flushing needs to be accounted for and added back in. Any oil that is removed with components must be added back in. Drier is worth 2-3 oz.
If the drier is restricted, it will have a large sensible (to the touch) temperature difference from input to output. A restricted drier may explain most of your symptoms...
