96 T-Bird spuratic cooling fan Very frustrating! I have a 96 with a 4.6 that the cooling fan will SOMETIMES work in. Spent a day with it fiddling. I am now of the opinion the ccrm and/or temp sensor behind alternator need replaced. I am looking for some thoughts on this however, as I have read many threads where others have done this to no avail. The fan will generally cycle 3x, sometimes 4, sometimes none, before overheating. As long as the fan comes on, all is well. It just doesn't always want to come on. I replaced the factory cap with an A/M after constant overflow at no more than 220 degrees. At least now I can keep the dang coolant in. Stuck with a 16lb cap to be safe. When the fan doesn't come on, nothing will turn it on (heater, a/c, etc) other than once when I tapped the ccrm it came on (coincidence in temp?). Before I risk a "guaranteed" used ccrm or step up for an oem, I am looking for some insight. |
