Question Heater issue

2001 Expedition. The heat comes on in the front for a short time then goes to cold. When I hit the break hard the heat returns. Anybody have an idea what to look at to fix.
Thanks for any help

Check the coolant level. Then check the heater control valve.

No heater control valve on this. Vehicles haven't used heater control valves for years. I'd put my money on a bad or leaking vacuum hose to the blend air door actuator or a vac leak in the control. The key here is that vacuum goes up when your foot is off the gas--so the problem is vacuum related.

Angry 99' Ford Windstar Heating Problem

I have a 99' Ford Windstar. When I turn my heater or defroster on, all I get is cold air. The rear defroster works fine. I did notice that the air control slide switch is pretty loose like it's not connected anymore. Also, when I do move the slide switch, I can hear a thumping noise that continues for awhile, then stops. Meanwhile, I have no heat.

Can anyone PLEASE help me?

Thanks for your time and help in advance.

Quick update: Found the blend door motor was dead. Replaced and heat works now.
