Ha, yeah thats ok, its a Firebird. I do own a couple wrenches also. Also a Rotary Lift, brake lathe, tire changer, tire balancer, a huge assortment of air tools, a wide variety of craftsmen/snap-on hand tools. I also have a little expeirence, not alot and maybe ABE or RickMN will speak up a little more. I was just relaxing and giving you a little hell.
I reccomend taking a look at a shop manual from Ford. My 86 Grand Marquis is a bit of a different story and I can't give you much info on your newer Ford.
And if you care, you can check out my threads I've made, and read some of the stuff I've wrote.

I am satisfied that you are a nice guy and enjoy this forum and like to play a little and thats fine.Now me thats a different story,just kidding.A little about me,retired from Ford Mtr Co 40 years 5 months service.Spent 3 yrs U S Army mos ordnance mechcanic.Worked on all vehicles that moved that belonged to the army,including jeeps, trucks,tanks and eng. equipment D8 cats, cranes, turner doziers etc.In 1986 my daughter bought a new SVO Mustang,after driving it i fell in love with performance cars.Went strait and bought me a new 1987 Turbo coupe dark shadow blue metalic a beauty also had a 1987 silver turbo coupe.In 1993 i bought one of the first Mark VIII's.Would still have it if not for a deer.Now about the compressor which i have already bought also accumelator and orifis tube and i will install it when the wheather gets better.My reason for asking this silly ? was to maybe learn a short cut or some do's and don'ts to save some time and work.Well my two typing fingers are tired so have a good day.

(After removal of freon and serpentine belt) I use a long 1/4" extension with a swivel socket to get to the 10mm bolt for the manifold hose. (Get from the top of the engine compartment) Jack up the front of the vehicle or use ramps to gain some clearance. From the bottum of the engine you have to remove the 10mm mounting bolts. There should be three or four. Make sure to unplugged the two wire connector at the front of the compressor prior to removing the bolts. If you can use a wrench to break the mounting bolts loose, you should be able to use an extension and swivel socket to remove the bolts. Leave the bolt that is easiest to get to for last. Once the compressor is loose, you will have to "play" with it to get past the steering linkage but that isn't too bad. On some it will come right out. Good Luck.
