98 ford taurus bypass compresser

Hey everyone I have seen two different answers for this questions. Is it possible to bypass the compressor using a smaller belt? If it is does anyone know what size belt I would need?

Not sure about rerouting the belt, but i know there are blank pulleys out there you put in place of the old part

I've tried to use a 63 and 64 inch belt Gator I believe (started with a 74 inch and I am having trouble figuring out how to route the belt without rubbing on the compressor pulley any help on the correct routing when by-passing the air conditioning pulley?? The guys at checker are getting a real kick out of seeing me struggle they have no diagram for me either

ok they make those cars without a/c so it has to be possible, I check the radiator support see if there is a diagram. Second you could always remove the pulley and as long as nothing else rubs it should works

Well here we go, I spent the day getting the elt re-routed on the 98 taurus and the size belt I ended up with was an 80 inch belt. I would have preferred an 80.5 inch belt but they did not have one. same routing as the original, just left off the compressor pully routing, no rubs and work great. Good luck to all.

so you are saying that you were abel to put an 80in belt and the compresser pully was clear of it?
