Wink Problems with Air Conditioning

Dear friends,
I own a 1993 Ford Escort LX.
The Problem I am am having is if I run my car with the Air Conditioning on at a stop sign or stop lights the car will jerk very badley to the point where
the car is close to kill out or will kill out.It is the worst
at the the stop lights, because the longer I have to wait the more it Jerks to
the point of kill out,or will kill out. Any Ideas what the problem might be?
Any Ideas ,on what would be the problem ,or how much it may cost to
fix it would truley be appreciated !!!
The Car runs fine with the air Conditionier on as long as I am driving the Car,
and am not stoping at any stop signs,or stop lights.
Please Help,
I Appreciate your help !!!

Make sure the radiator fans are coming on when the engines hot and when the A/C is on because the fans also cool the A/C condensor which will put strain on the engine trying to turn the stressed A/C compressor if the A/C condensor isn't being cooled... Especially on 4 cylinder engines.
