Default ac compressor on 1996 ford explorer
Hello:

I just purchased an Air conditioner R134a recharger and when I went to check the psi, it was above 55. Does this mean that is fully charged? Also, I noticed the compressor is making a ticking noise (it sound loud when the hood is open), but the middle is spinning. I am getting some cold air in the cabin (only around 78 degrees) so I'm not sure what I should do. Should I take it to a shop and have them reclaim the old refrigerant and then replace the refrigerant myself? Does it cost a lot to have them do this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. One last thing: when I was putting the hose on the low side service port, I noticed air escaping. Is this the R134 refrigerant? Is that safe?
