Default A/C Problems

I have a 99 Ford F250 diesel 7.3 PS. My a/c will not run on low rpm's. It kicks on in high rpm's only. This is a problem only during the hot summer months with temps over 90 degrees. In cooler temps we have noticed no problem.

Any suggestions?

You may be a pound or two low on refrigerant.

I have found with my 99 7.3, that about every two years I will have to recover the 134 and replace the orfice tube. After that it's ok for about two years. Also make sure the condensor in front of the inter-cooler/radiator is clean (bugs, road debris etc..). anything that blocks airflow will reduce the cooling capacity.

Good luck.
