I have a 2002 zx5 focus which is overheating after about 30 mins driving. When the A/C is on it will not overheat. Could this be that the fan is not turning on under normal circumstances? Would that be a coolant sensor. If a suggestion of sensor or thermostat where can i find these in the engine compartment?
It sounds like the ect sensor has gone out, follow the upper radiator hose to the engine and the sensor should be on the thermostat housing.Try unplugging it and see if the fan comes on.
Thanks much phantom_smack. At work so have not been able to try yet. Just to be sure the thermostat housing is on the the back wall of the engine compartment? its the black kind of can looking thing with a little black box with something plugged into it? I know that sounds stupid but not great with cars haha.
