1994 F-150 AC problems Had the compressor lock up on a 1994 Ford F-150 with a 4.9 6 cylinder in it.
Replaced compressor, filter/receiver/drier and orifice tube. Added 7 oz of oil (a mistake I know) and evacuated and weighed the charge in.
It ran high head (enough to trip the high pressure switch at 2000 RPM) and high suction, 50 psi or so.
Ran the truck a while, recovered the refrigerant, dumped excess oil out of receiver. Re evacuated and recharged, a little better discharge air temp, went from 70 F to 65F.
Did the same thing again, removed more oil etc. Still no better.
When I spray the front of the condenser with water, the evaporator pressure and discharge air temperature return to normal, e.g. 30 PSI and 50 F.
I am lost as to what the problem could be. Is the condenser still oil logged? IF the radiator fan viscous coupling is failing, could it be lack of air flow?
Any advice would be appreciated! |
