Corroded part I have a 2000 Ranger with the 3.0 liter engine. Engine started running warm. I replaced the fan clutch. It helped. Then the engine overheated. I nursed it home and replaced the thermostat. It was toast. I put the thermostat in a pan of water heated to engine temp to verify the thermostat was bad.
Now after flushing the cooling system I noticed a brass fitting that the coolant temp sensor screws into was leaking. I suspect that the stuck thermostat only accellerated the weakness in the part that corrosion that already had caused. This part was described to me as a water port.
The difficulty I'm experiencing is that the auto parts stores don't carry the part and nothing I can find on the internet references this particular part. There is a number is stamped on the part, but it doesn't seem to work in any of the databases that I've tried it in.
I'm guessing that it is a dealer part. What I'm wondering is if it would be something that would be kept in stock or would it have to be ordered? |
