just bought 90 Ranger 2.9 with auto. tried put freon in. too much pressure. cross jumped plug and compressor will not cycle. is orifice or valve possibly stuck. any suggestions appreciated.

AC pump will shut itself down if it has too much or not enough freon/pressure in it.
start the engine, turn on the air (on high/max) and release some freon pressure at
the charging port until the pump kicks back on.
