the dealership can rebuild your old one. You have to take yours in first though. Or you could custom build a dish using something like sunpro gauges.

my first question is why are you referring to yourself as a thunderchicken if you own a thunderbird? that's kind of a derogatory term for thunderbirds. they're awesome cars, don't talk down to yourself. my fiance's making his into a 10sec this summer, all the parts are sitting on my dining room floor... decoration for now. anyway. His gas gauge has been dead for a while. you can buy a replacement dash controls online. ebay had some good ones for relatively cheap but i recommend that you know your way around all the smallness and wiring required. you could try wiring a from a new one (newer model i'm assuming) but that'll be a pain. i'll double check but i'm pretty sure that you'll be fine with anything between a 89-93 for your dash.
you can check the junk yards, but with all electrical things, there's a level of uncertainty. there's also a thunderbird forum that has more specific and helpful advice for only thunderbirds. i would recomend dropping the thunderchicken before logging onto there though...

ok. there isn't much on ebay at all right now. however, register to tccoa.com the members on there do alot of selling parts to each other for relatively affordable prices and they can help you out in finding the right things. also check out ford's new old stock selections.

Any other 2006 Explorer owners who have a hard time reading the gauges because of all the black surrounding the gauges.... I find it almost impossible to read the gas gauge unless the sun is coming in the driver's window.... if wearing sun glasses FORGET IT

That depends on the gauge you're looking for. I guess you can still look for the exact gauges you're looking for in those dealership and your car manufacturer. And if you want to have a new style, you can look for some in the net and online car shops. Good luck to you.

Ok, I'm pretty sure you can get ANY gauge to work as long as it's the same diameter. The concept of all the gauges is the same.
