Is it possible to move the entire passenger seat and mounts back, say about 6 inches? Would I ask a body shop to do this? (It is not an electric seat.)
I bought the Escape because it had the most leeway space to get a handicapped persons feet to clear the door. Now this persons legs are even more non-flexible and I need a little more room to get her feet to clear the door panel. I wouldn't mind even altering the door panel, but that's where the speakers are. Any suggestions?
Have you moved the seat as far back as it will go? In my 03' the seat all the way back only leaves about 3 inches from the front seat back and the back seat. If anything you could possibly just remove the front seat, and have the passenger sit in the backseat.
