Do you have a multi-meter and know how/where to check the field wire for voltage? This is the wire that 'excites' the alternator so it can create power. This wire comes from the voltage regulator and is identified with a "F" on the wiring connection. (It's an orange wire on my 68', yours may be different.)
If your sure it's the regulator, I’d get a new one. The new NAPA gold regulators are much more stable, voltage wise, than the old originals.
hello, i have a 65 ford galaxie 500 and i'm not getting a charge, i think something is wrong with the voltage regulator and i know it's not the alternator because i put in a new one and it still will not charge do you know what i can do with the voltage regulator? thanks
On any Galaxie you want to pay particular attention to the frame. Look for cracks and rust through spots. This is one area that can make or break a project before it even gets started.
Other areas to look ar include; the floor pan, especially in the corners. The trunck pan and drip rail areas. And if it has a vinyl top, anything could be lurking under there, and it's all expensive to repair.
Hello, I noticed, that you did a resto on ur galaxy, and I was wondering , if you had any advice for where to check on the galaxies for rust problems. I did not know if galaxies had a problem with rusting in certain areas? Thanks
