I just read your thread, if you're going to an auto parts chain store like Rock Auto, Advance auto or Auto Zone and the car cant be driven there, take the old alternator and battery out and take them with you, the auto parts store can test em for you to make sure you're not wasting money. If your current battery and alternator are good then let us know and we can move on to the next possible suspect.
