| Wet behind the ears I have a 88 festiva ( first one )with a 92 motor I was told but it is not fuel injected, The mechanic put a carb.on it. I get 43 MPG. It runs good if it is not raining but as soon as it rains It starts fouling spark plugs.( Fuel Fouled ) I can only drive it approx. 15 miles and I have to pull over to change them out. I have replaced the rotor, cap and put on the best set of plug wires NAPA Auto has, and it has not helped any. The choke is always full open when it bogs down when I change the plugs. What is going on? I would appreciate any help any one can give me. The MPG is excellant and I would like to get it road worthy. Thanks Don |

Does your distributor have some sort of vacuum advance?

| You should stick with the Motorcraft plugs that were OE. The ignition system is designed around the plugs that way you get optimum spark. Did you have this problem prior to changing the carb?

| The Carb was already on it when I bought it, And it has been fouling plugs when its wet outside since I have put it on the road. I put it in my shop one day, started it and with a spray bottle wet everything down that could be reached and it did not do anything. Thanks for the reply |

| Is the carb computer controlled? Does it have a MAP sensor.
