new guy---ol guy i'm an ol guy restoring an ol ride. over the years i've had to do some mechanical work just to get to work every day so i'm not a total stranger to working on cars, but when i look through some of the parts books i realize how far in the dust i got left when it comes to restoring tecnoligy. also with these newer cars that you never need to raise the hood on, and of course lets not forget that i am lazy by nature. heck, i ve forgotten most all that i knew. well ,thats my background, update goes something like this, i remember when the 55 ford hit the showrooms, slickest thing in town, BIG v8 , radios, heaters, wow man i was really impressed, i was finely able to afford one last fall, funny, don't seem to remember them so expensive in 55, well i got a fairlane that has the interior and exterior restored very nicely tho i do plan some minor changes in the future. under the hood was a 6 cly. auto needing rebuild, never did care for a 6 tho i do have a lot of respect for fuel mileage. i just happen to have 289 auto in my garage so i put it in over this last winter, car runs good, won't smoke tires but at my age i don't care, the engine is stock but i did put a dress up kit on it and lakes pipes, my insurance man went nuts. of course changed over to 12 volt. plans for this summer are 2'' lowering blocks and skirts, well thats my story and i'm sticking to it. i've got a few problems i could use some ideas or thoughts on but i also get writters cramp real easy so better quit for now. w d |
