Just wanted to say hello to all the other people here. We are currently fixing up my fathers 64 Galaxie 500. The story of this car (we think) is pretty amazing. My father bought this car brand new from the dealer with every extra bell and whistle available at the time. I'm not sure exactly how many years he drove the car, but it wasn't many. It sat in an old barn until 1987 when he got it out for one summer. I was 8 years old and I remember what a big deal it was riding in that car. Back to the garage the car went where it has sat, untouched, for 21 years! With my fathers health slowly getting worse, he finally agreed to let my husband and I "get the old girl going". We went down, uncovered it, and were amazed at how beautiful that car looked after sitting for so long. After popping the hood, just a little bit of lubing up and a new battery, that old ford fired right up and sounded as mean as it did 44 years ago (maybe a little meaner with a rotted out exhaust!). After putting some air into 21 year old tires, and on 21 year old gas, we were able to drive the car up to our house where there is more room to work on it. Since then we have been working on getting her into good running condition again. It has 58,000 original miles. Everything is original on the car except the paint job, which is badly needed again. The interior looks brand new, no wear at all. We were pretty amazed by all of this and just wanted to share our story with other ford owners. We think its pretty amazing!
My dad had a '69 Galaxy 2Dr, big engine...390? Manual tranny. We called the color Candy Apple red. He bought it new for about $1900 I think. It had a shifter on the column, but there was some problem with the linkage, so he put a cool shifter on the floor. As a kid, I thought that was the coolest car ever, from bumper to bumper. He sold it when I was about 14 or 15, before I could drive it. Probably a good thing, I would have squealed tires and done all sorts of stupid things with it. Wise dad.

The Car Blog, or TCB for those who are acronymically inclined, is alive because some of today's top Web designers needed a place to drool and bitch about their motor vehicle obsessions.
