Default Sidney, 2003 Mercury Sable Wagon

I have a 03 Sable Wagon and the brakes are pulsing when coming to a stop, I bought the car used with 14K miles and within 5K miles the brakes pulsed. I changed the rear rotors and pads and it went away, but at 30K it came back and I just left it that way, now I have 58K on the car and I need to deal with it.

Could it be the caliper unit itself, if so How can I tell which of the brakes is causing the problem?

Thanx, Sidney,

Try changing the front rotors and pads this time.

To check the Calipers you have to jack up the car and have somebody apply the brakes for you. Start with 1 wheel and go around the entire car. Spin the tire it should move freely, apply the brakes and it shouldn't move, release the brakes and it should move freely again, if it doesn't or feel like there is a drag on it the Caliper may be hanging up a little and will need to be replaced.

The front Tires will have a little natural drag on them cause they have to spin the drive shafts, have car in neutral when checking the front Brakes.

Warped rotors can be caused by many things, hard stopping, defective rotor, bad Caliper, riding the Brakes (keeping foot on all the time), rotor wore out and too thin.
