new member with a contour problem

Thanks for this type of forum, they are always helpful with annoying problems. I am a 49 year old garage mechanic who has a son with a 95 contour that wants to and does stall at stops. I have been to the local ford dealer and paid for the diagnostics (worthless), and told to change the MAF sensor. Did that and still have same problem. Have changed T belt, Serp belt fuel filter, plugs, and wires, still have problem. Check engine light comes on occasionally with a code for running lean. Please help this newbie!

Stalling is usually a sticking Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. Lean is either a vacuum leak or bad O2 sensor.

Most large auto parts stores will run diagnostics for free.
