I have a 96 Ford Probe Gt V6 manual that won't start. It has spark but it is dumping too much fuel and is flooding itself. Was driving it home and it died. Took it to the shop and had a new ecu put in. Also replaced mass air flow sensor, rotor, plugs, cap. Came up with a code for throttle position sensor so replaced it and still won't start. Checked the timing belt and it appears that it is good and didn't jump but I'm not sure. Tried to pull start it and nothing. Clean the battery posts. Cleared the error code but it came back up. I'm lost !!!! Can anyone help ???
From what I've read, sometimes LOW fuel pressure can cause that. Apparently what happens is the injectors open and fuel kind of runs out of them instead of spraying like it should. Have you checked the fuel pressure?

You have a distributorless ignition system. None of the plugs are firing. Have you checked the power into the coil pack? Have you tested the coil pack itself?
Actually, you may just have a blown fuse or bad ground. Here's the engine management schematic to get you started.

How did you determine that the injectors are fine?
If the fuel pressure regulator is not functioning properly, you could get too much pressure at teh rail, and it'll be like it is flooding and it won't start.
Do you have a fuel pressure guage/tester? Maybe you can borrow one.
Do you have a Haynes, or Chilton's manual?
Please answer all of the questions.
Thanks

The code that came up was a tps sensor malfunction so i went and bought a new one.i am no longer reading any codes what so ever. I will have to put a fuel pressure tester on it to see for sure. I do ot have a manual yet.But for right now im back to square one i have to find out why i am not reciving spark im getting power to the cap but not out of it.
You have a distributor cap? From what I looked up you should have a coil pack.

Who is correct here?
LastTudor says you have a coil pack and distributorless ignition.
You say you have power to the cap, but not out of it.

So You get spark from the coil wire, but not out of the plug wires?
Assuming that is true, perhaps your rotor is not turning.
Pull the cap and crank the engine, and check to make sure the rotor is turning.

He said it was the 2.5, which would make it a V-6 if it is a 2.5. Doesn't it get confusing in here?
