Can anyone tell me what is the best gasoline? I use petro-can a lot, I was told to use Esso or Shell if I want less problems with my car. I have had fuel system problems with my car for the past 2 years, I tried ehtanol and that buggered up my fuel pump, I switched back to petro can, I have been to the dealer twice now with clogged fuel filters and injectors. I am talking about a 1998 fuel injected car here(malibu). I had my engine light go on after filling up at petro-can and my mechanic said that is the 5th car today that put petro-can in their tank and had their engine light go on. I don't want to slam petro-can, just wonderin. The motor in my 94 Explorer pings with petro-can, even their high test.
Gettin expensive, thinking about switching to Shell or Esso.
I use whatever gas is around and I replaced the fuel filter at 247,500 miles and now I'm doing a head gasket, I check the injectors and they all look clean, like brand new at 248,000 miles. The fuel system is 100% OEM from the factory (except for the fuel filter)
Wawa and Turkey Hill are the two stations I frequent, I think the Turkey hill (by my house) has the best gas by far, The van would be so much quicker with that gas, the Wawa gas lows it down. Now I'm not too sure that these USA stations use one specific distributer, The stations just buy whatever is cheaper.

I have not noticed any difference in the gas I buy at different outlets. Some stations have had trouble with water and some dirt, particularly after a tanker has delivered a load. Seems the new gas stirs up the material from the bottom of the tank. So avoid stations that have just filled up.
My dealer recommends replacing the fuel filter every year and that is what I do. Gives it some extra capacity for a problem fill.
Ford filters are very big, about 4" long by 2 1/2" dia, what about GM filters?
Good luck.

i use Chevron supreme in my, friends and my family's vehicles and Chevron diesel in my excursion. i, also, would recommend their supreme to customers who had mild, non-obvious driveability probs. everyone that i sent there came back to tell me their problem was gone. if i can't find chevron then i use shell.

I've done alot of amerture gas shopping the past 10 years, comparing gas milage, performance etc. and my kinda AMERTURE observation is that Exxon-Mobile seem to have a higher quality gas then some other stations.
