i need the colouors for the leads in a ford for connector a
Hi all and welcome to the main problem i have been having for the last few hours?
Well i have a ford mondeo mk1 L-reg. Its great but i have to change the radio-cd plyer on it because its not working properly!! NO PROBLEM I THOUGHT.......
HA HA was i wrong or what!!!!!
Anyway what the previous owner had done was install a radio but cut off the origional terminal block!! (well done numpty). then they had proceded to put wires direct to the battery (only used standard speaker wires lol). i dont have a rearly big problem with that as i thought i could get the old wires back but the radio no longer turns off with the ignition. i have worked out why.
when they put this new radio in they joined 2 wires together directly behind the stereo (constant power and the supposed ignition wire).
anyway what im here today for is to try and get help installing a new iso block. i have a standard iso block BUT i dont know what colour the wires are that need to go into the POWER part of the block. My radio needs the following wires
(these need to be the ford mondeo L-reg wire colours)
Battery ignition (ACC)
Power control
ignition battery (ACC)
earth (ground)
(iso is for connection to a standard iso for all stereos!
I am not sure what ACC means? any help very much welcome i have all the ford wiring diagrams but cant rearly work it out. i have sorted out the speaker side of things.
cheers for the help?!?!? IF YOU CAN

ACC means accesory, I'm not sure on the colors for the radio. Also you may consider getting a new harness and terminals from your local Ford dealer and redoing the harness.
ok thanks for the acc help. i have actually managed to wire the whole new standard iso socket to the car. it all works buy it will not work when i try and wire in the ignition. i just need to know the wire colours and the standard iso pin position.
Could you help? or anyone
if you have a ford mondeo mk1 and have an aftermarket stereo that turns off/on with the ignition then can you please please please please look and tell me your wire config (only a very rough drawing is needed) for the power and ignition.
We do not have the Mondeo in Canada or the US, we have the Contour and Mystique which may be related. Using the wiring diagram for a Contour, the info that you want is:
1. Power supply to fuse block
Battery to ign switch = Red;
Battery to fuse block = Red;
Ign switch accessory and run to fuse block = Yellow;
Battery to light switch = Red;
Light switch to fuse block = Red/blue;
2. Fuse block to radio
Battery power = orange/yellow
ign power = blue/black
lighting power = orange/blue, becoming white/green before radio;
3. Grounds
Radio (two connections) = black/green, connect to amp ground wire and become black/yellow and then to ground;
Amp = black/yellow and connecting to radio ground but stays black and yellow;
Hope this helps.
