Radio Issue F-150 2002 Right so this is my work truck but it's still annoying. Normally in the morning my radio does not work. It is a stock Radio/CD player. Interstingly enough, when I turn the lights on the radio lights up as normal with the dashboard. If I hit the eject button it will light up the time and also that there is no CD or eject one and bring it back in if one is in the drive.
As I drive around during the day it may turn on, it seems to be after the truck has warmed up, usually with the defrost on. This could take 2 hours or all day. It will then be on or cut out at random and it really seems to depend on the heat in the truck, get to hot, cuts out and off. Turn off the heat, fine till I have the truck off for an hour, then it's off again.
At first I thought it was a wiring issue because it kicked on one day coming home and then I hit a bump and it went off. It is the strangest thing to me because it really does seem to be a heat issue, to cold it won't come on, to hot it shuts off. It stutters a lot to when it's on at times if the heat is on I've noticed. It doesn't seem like it's not getting enough power, but that it's getting to hot, I turn the heat on and it's stable until it's to cold again.
Is this a wiring issue, corrosion or something? Or is this radio just shot?
Any ideas.
Thanks
