Default Sound System in '02 ranger

hey guys, has anyone installed a sound system in a ranger? i just bought a system and im planning on installing it myself but i need some help. here's what i have....

infinity basslink t (10" subs w/ 2 passive radiators)(250-watt class D amp)

infinity reference 6822CF 5"x7"/ 6"x8" 2-Way Speakers

i was planning on using my factory head unit with all of this but im afraid it sucks too much. i was thinking about getting a new head unit but i REALLY don't want to spend too much more money.

for the basslink i think i know what to do for the most part but i have absolutely no idea what to do for the speakers

any suggestions?

are you asking what to run them off of? If so run them off the supplied channels on the head unit

the best thing to do is buy an after market head unit and use the rca cables for your subs. Does you amp have a crossover. You can get the Head unit from any store I like the Pioneers for they are cheap and effective. I've had the high dollar head units but still get the best bang for my buck out of the pioneers. You can get a wiring harness at any best buy to ease installation. You might have to buy a faceplate kit. it is worth the money for the stock stereo just does not have the juice to push the rest of the speakers effectively when you have the bass. I've built many a systems. Never have used a stock stereo for that reason. Not to mention you do not have to cut your wires and guess which is pos and which is neg.

Bowtiebreaker- the Infinity basslink woofer is a powered subwoofer with built-in crossovers.

That isn't the problem. Your Stock unit will handle everything, but I'd recommend an aftermarket headunit or even an external amplifier if you want some serious sound. The speakers should work fine with the stock headunit, just that you may not be able to turn the volume up too loud. Rule of thumb is distortion=bad... as long as the speakers seem to be getting (and producing) a clean signal, your good to go. A new headunit or amplifier will be able to produce a signal much louder and MUCH purer than the OEM head unit.

I just did the sound in my windstar... well it's 90% done.

JVC KHD-HDR30 headunit
Alpine MRP-F550 4 Channel Amplifier
Alpine Type S 6.5" 2-way speakers (front)
Alpine Type S 6x9" 2-way speakers (rear)

I ran all new wire for everything, and the sound is excellent, just need a woofer. Then I just enable the amp's crossovers and I'll be good to go.

and I am in working on a Dual 12" subwoofer setup to add to that.
