Question E150 Radio Removal

I'm trying to find out how to remove the radio from a 2008 Ford E150 work van. Are special tools required?

If you go to a car audio store and ask them, they will often pop it out for you right there for free, since it takes a few seconds. Yes, you will need these, they are called radio removal keys, and they are cheap.

you insert them on the top and bottom on both sides of the radio and it pops right out.

Cam is quite correct about the keys. However, my econoline radio requires two U-shaped removal tools that engage four round corner holes about 1/8" diameter each. If your radio is similar, the U-shaped keys are what you need (available at Autozone etc). Also do not try to bend a coat hanger to form the U's as a DIY solution as the keys are specially machined at the tips to unlock the retaining clips within the radio assembly.
