2001 Windstar with the Ford Silver or Gold (not sure which) security system installed.
Ok, here's what it's not doing...starting my van. Here's what it is doing.
Keyless entry works - unlocks and locks all the doors like normal
Actuates the power sliding doors - opens & closes
The red LED flashes two times, pause, repeats
When I try to start the van with the remote the horn beeps twice and parking lights flash twice too.
Then the van does not even attempt to start....the little red LED just flashes forever.
The push button switch does nothing that I can tell
I've had problems with this before and it turned out to be a bad PATS bypass module. That time it at least made an attempt to start the van. The PATS module was replaced and it worked fine up to the point when the light started flashing.
I think it may be stuck in a programming mode but I can't figure out procedures either that or the flashing LED is spitting out a error code?
I pulled it out from under the dash and everything is connected and it's getting the proper signals etc...hood switch, brake switch and so on.
Does anybody have a pointer to download the install or user manual for this thing. Like I said I think it may be the gold or silver ford starter/security system.
To the best of my knowledge, the "factory" never released a remote start system for any vehicle in 2001. You have some third party system "spliced" in by the dealer.

if its an after market i can help. you say you pulled it out and checked hood pin and brake and so on. Did you check the constant should be red, the ignition should be yellow, and ground should be black now these wires will just make sure control box is connected. Now if you want to remote start most cars need a constant usually heavier gauge red wire, a heavier yellow to trigger ignition 1 which is same as turning key to first position turning on engine lights and then ignition 2 which is usually brown turning on what is left light fuel, heater controls things like that, and then there acccesory which is usually orange turning on things that really aren't needed like radio sometimes heat depends on car, and then the most important violet wich cranks the starter. Cars differ on how to get around antitheft (PATS) ford usually have a transponder where the car will turn over but not start because of the fuel is shut of until key is sensed.
What I would do check the wires make sure you have constant, ignition 1, ignition 2, accessory and starter. By using a multi meter and turning key to different positions should be ble to check them all. Don't forget ground very important and easily forgotten.
You can also check this by pressing the remote start button and seeing the difference between that and putting the key in. if it does nothing probally main constant or ground, if the panel lights up then nothing else probally got ignition 1, 2, or accesory. I f get everything but start violet wire or PATS bypass is problem.
Sorry alot of info there I have done a few feel free to ask me anything I may have been vague on
