Question 99 expy. Only one key.

Hello. I have just purchased a 99 Expy with power door locks, keypad touch, and only one key. This forum is invaluable for info! Anyway, I need another key. I've seen that you can buy a blank key with the Transponder(?)
in the handle . Is it possible to buy a blank, have it cut by a proffesional key maker, take it to Ford and program it with the other key? Or would Ford charge for the whole thing anyway> If anyone has had experience your input would be appreciated.

You can buy blanks on eBay, with the "chip", but it requires both original keys to program a third, or special equipment.

Just go to a locksmith. They will have the proper banks and equipment to program it, at much less cost than a Ford Dealer.

Default one key

Can they do this even if I only have the one key? Also I was wondering if my expedition came with a keyless entry key fob. I saw it was listed in the owners manual but it didn't say it was an option. Once again I have power locks, the keypad entry(which doesn't work), and the xlt package.

They purchase a cutdown version of the dealer computer. The dealer computer conectos to the data port under Steering column.

This tells the PCM to erase stored Keys. Then adds keys.
Locksmiths charge alot less. then a dealer will.
